Welcome!

I’m Emily, a product designer and product manager. I’ve worked in tech since graduating from Carnegie Mellon with a BS and Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction. I love creating simple, elegant, and intuitive solutions for complex, data-heavy systems.

I live in Brooklyn, NY, and spend my free time drawing, reading, cooking, hanging out with friends (and their dogs), tie-dyeing and doing ceramics.

A bit about my career

From Jan 2022 to Apr 2023, I was the director of design and product management at Octane, a seed-stage usage-based billing startup. As the only designer and product manager, I wore many hats! I led all design and product related activities, helped out with marketing, and learned a lot about product, leadership, and what it takes to run an early stage company. Since our product was so technical (and I was working with almost only engineers), I also got the chance to brush-up my tech skills.

Prior to Octane, I spent 3.5 yrs on the product & design teams at Latch, a smart lock startup that makes hardware and software for managing access in apartment buildings. I wore many hats and had many responsibilities, but highlights include: bringing new products to market, improving the building manager experience, and leading user research for the design and product teams. When I started at Latch, there were about 90 employees, and by the time I left, there were many hundreds of employees and our company was public (NASDAQ: LTCH).

Before Latch, I was an interaction designer at Bloomberg LP for about 3.5 yrs, working on the Terminal, a financial services platform. I was the designer for a number of different products in the collaboration, communication, and surveillance space. One of my larger projects was an update to a communication tool that traders use for finding buyers & sellers for securities.
